Stanford University has opened a first-of-its-kind human-computer interaction trial evaluating SAGE, a retrieval-augmented language model designed to provide primary care physicians with specialist-level clinical guidance at the point of care. The study will assess whether SAGE improves the actionability and specialist concordance of physician decisions using simulated patient cases. Results could reshape how health systems approach GP-to-specialist consultation pathways.
