The Austrian Digital Heart Study (NCT07684053) is enrolling 100,060 adults aged 65 and over to test whether smartphone-based AF screening using the 'Pulskontrolle' app reduces stroke hospitalisations compared with usual care. With a 48-month follow-up and hard clinical endpoints, this siteless randomised trial could redefine population-level AF detection strategies globally.
