A landmark observational trial at the University of Florida is deploying a pervasive multimodal sensing platform — combining video, accelerometry, ECG, and environmental monitoring — to autonomously detect pain, delirium, and clinical deterioration in ICU patients. The I2CU/ADAPT study aims to demonstrate that deep learning models can outperform conventional acuity scores, potentially transforming how critical care clinicians monitor and respond to their most vulnerable patients.
