A new multicentre prospective trial from Shanghai Chest Hospital is testing whether label-free femtosecond laser imaging combined with the FastLung AI model can match conventional frozen section diagnosis for intraoperative assessment of lung tumours. The parallel-workflow non-inferiority study will enrol 294 patients and could reshape intraoperative pathology practice in thoracic surgery if validated.
