·clinical-trialsA Mayo Clinic feasibility study is testing the Brain Interchange (BIC) closed-loop system's ability to detect stereotyped high-frequency oscillations in real time and deliver pre-emptive stimulation before seizure onset in drug-resistant epilepsy patients. Unlike existing responsive neurostimulation devices that react to seizures after they begin, the BIC system targets the oscillatory biomarkers that precede them — a potential paradigm shift in neuromodulation therapy. Results are anticipated in late 2025.
