A UCL-led proof-of-concept trial is evaluating whether AI-enhanced low-field MRI can match conventional high-field MRI for epileptogenic lesion detection in adults with epilepsy. The study targets a critical global health gap: over 80% of the world's 50 million people with epilepsy live in settings where high-field MRI is inaccessible. Results expected in 2026 could reshape neuroimaging standards in resource-limited settings.
